"I grew up in a creative atmosphere of writers and other artists in San Francisco. I began painting after trips to Europe in the 1950's. When I enrolled as an architecture student at UC Berkeley, I became fascinated by the geometric work of artists like Moholy-Nagy and Jean Helion. In the 1970's, as a member of Synanon, a large extended family community, some of our artists were creating work in stained glass, a medium which immediately appealed to me because of its inherent reflective qualities and unusual colorations. As a result, my wife, Kathy, also developed skills in this medium, and we continue to work with glass in our studio in Visalia, Ca., where I also buy and sell fine art. I enjoy producing work for many local shows in the Central Valley, like Arts Visalia and Chris Sorensen's studio in Fresno. My wife and I are continuing members of the Arts Visalia gallery and the Visalia Art League. " -Steve
