VEDC’s primary purpose is to make Visalia’s business climate conducive to good growth. To achieve this, VEDC works with private businesses, the Chamber of Commerce, the City of Visalia, and the Tulare County EDC to present our city and its opportunities in a positive light and to keep open the doors of communication between public entities and private enterprise.

Tulare County Workforce Investment Board - Our Workforce Investment Board (WIB) makes critical investments in workforce training and education so that businesses can compete and prosper, and our community can thrive. The WIB’s strategies solve economic challenges by developing workforce innovations that ensure that all Tulare County businesses continually contribute to generating wealth and economic success in our community.
Proteus - Proteus is the premier provider of training, education, and community services within the agriculturally rich Central San Joaquin Valley. Since its inception in 1967, Proteus has been in a continuous state of evolution, adding and expanding services as the changing needs of the workforce emerge. Initially, an adult training center serving low-income residents through educational services, Proteus has emerged as a nationally recognized full-service agency providing a wide range of services to a diverse customer base. Program offerings include adult, youth, and dislocated worker programs and career and technical education classes.

Downtown Visalia Alliance - Property and business owners work together and determine the level of services and improvements needed for the area. Coordinated programs are established such as economic development, marketing and public area enhancements (parking management, maintenance, graffiti removal and security). Members of a representative board of directors work with the city and the county in establishing partnerships as they carry out the goals. But probably the biggest strength an association has is in serving as a unifying voice for the downtown. By empowering property and business owners, needs are met in a more efficient manner and this gives the business district a stronger identity and greater competitiveness.
Visalia Convention and Visitor's Bureau - Over the past decade, many have discovered the charm and accessibility of our community, making it a home, a tourist destination and central California convention and meeting hotspot. The Visalia Convention and Visitors Bureau continues to promote our region as a premiere destination for meetings and vacations, together with partner businesses and organizations. Visalia's hospitality, recreational, cultural and artistic, and political communities have come together in an effort to continue promotion of our city as an ideal Central California meeting location and must-see tourist destination.
