Public Education Programs

The Visalia Fire Department's Fire Prevention Division reaches out to the community in various forums to educate the public with regard to fire safety and other safety issues. Presentations are made throughout the community on a variety of safety issues including: home and workplace fire safety, earthquake preparedness, proper use of fire extinguishers, and traffic and bicycle safety.

Station Tours:

 

Tours are available Monday thru Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and are approximately 45 minutes to one hour in length. Groups can choose to tour any of our five fire stations located throughout the Visalia area. Click below to access our request form.

Safety Presentations:

 

Learn about events that provide safety information and handouts. Events such as mock traffic accident demonstrations and community events are a few examples. Click below to access our request form.

School Visits:

 

Each elementary class within Visalia is offered a 30 minute presentation on fire and accident prevention. The presentations are followed by an Engine visit from one of our stations. The themes of this presentation are: 

 

• Matches and Lighters are tools and not toys

• Have a home fire escape plan and practice it

• Know 2 ways out of each room

• Crawl low to avoid smoke

• Exit the home immediately

• Have a safe meeting place

• If your clothes were on fire......stop, drop and roll

• In case of an emergency.....dial 911
