The Visalia Fire Department is comprised of 72 dedicated, community serving people, who are highly capable and proud of their profession. The Visalia Fire Department serves more than 126,000 Visalia residents and visitors and has served the community of Visalia for over 143 years.

The City of Visalia Fire Department is charged with the responsibility of providing professional and efficient fire suppression, emergency preparedness, emergency medical services, fire prevention and public education to the community of Visalia. The goal is to provide the highest level of service in the most efficient manner possible; to constantly safeguard and preserve life and property against the elements of fire and disaster through effective preparation, training and education; and to respond to all emergencies in a safe yet swift manner with sufficient resources to address the situation.

Within this outstanding City Team, the fire department is a key member in providing community safety. We accept and embrace this challenge with vigor and commitment. As the world evolves and our city grows and matures, our mission has also evolved to one that is not simply confined to “traditional” fire services. Therefore, our mission statement reflects a commensurate need for our fire department to think and operate in a more encompassing manner.
