Battalion Chief Danny Wristen began his career with the Visalia Fire Department in April of 1992. He promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief in December of 1999. Chief Wristen has served as Fire Marshal, Shift Battalion Chief and is currently assigned to the Training Division. His current duties include the management of the Training Division, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and the fire department Communications Program. As the Training Division manager, Chief Wristen ensures that all department members maintain training requirements and coordinates the use of our state-of-the-art Training Facility. As the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, he maintains the Emergency Operations Plan and the Emergency Operations Center for the City of Visalia, coordinates SEMS / NIMS training for all City employees and serves on the Tulare County Emergency Council. As the Communications Program Manager, Chief Wristen is the liaison to our Communications Center and is working with other City staff members to develop a new 911 Communications Center. Chief Wristen is a Qualified Strike Team Leader and serves as the Chair for the Tulare County Operational Area CICCS Committee. He has been involved in Hazardous Material Response, Technical Rescue, Fire Investigations and many other fire department programs during his career. Chief Wristen holds an AS Degree in Fire Science from Fresno City College.
