CODE ENFORCEMENT

The priority of the Code Enforcement Program is to address life safety issues that pose a threat to the health, safety and well being of residents and guests of the City of Visalia.

The following are services provided by the Code Enforcement Program: 

  • Receive, evaluate and investigate reports from residents regarding violations
  • Notify property owners of code violations, prescribe and monitor action
  • When necessary, prepare and refer cases to the Office of the City Attorney for further legal review
  • Ensure that conditions which pose a negative impact on a neighborhood are adequately addressed

The following are the most common reported code violations:  

  • Unsafe to occupy structures 
  • Unsecured swimming pools
  • Construction without required permits
  • Public nuisance properties
  • Inappropriate land use
  • Unlicensed vendors
  • Illegal signage

Private Vehicle Abatement Program - Over the coming weeks and months, the City's Vehicle Abatement Officer will be surveying each neighborhood throughout town to ensure that no illegal vehicles are parked or stored on private properties. Read more....
