Ghouls and Ghosts Enjoy Spooky Sprint

The air was crisp as the spirit of Halloween was in the air at the 2012 Spooky Sprint 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run. With over 190 participants, ghouls and ghosts traveled from near and far (as far as Florida!) to this special event held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Plaza Park.

Runners and walkers alike came in costume, with many special group costumes joining in the fun. With Batman and his arch-nemesis the Joker, the entire Pac Man family and a slew of Care Bears, the event was practically star studded. Featuring a special Kidz Zone fun area and information booths, the Run/Walk was a fun time enjoyed by all.

Overall first place went to Nate Morales of Visalia who completed the race with a total time of 16:47.75, while Angelica Ruiz of Tulare posted a close overall second place with a total time of 21:21.58.

Big thanks to all the community members who came out for this great day of fun and fitness, and a special thank you to our event sponsors Visalia Medical Clinic and Subway restaurant, and photographer Bill Dillberg for photographing the event.

To join us for the next Visalia Parks & Recreation run, keep your calendar marked for the Tule Fog 5K/10K Run and Kids Fun Run to be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013. See our Live & Play Fall/Winter 2012 guide for more information.
