The Violent Crimes Unit consists of a sergeant, an agent, six detectives, one full-time civilian investigator and one part-time civilian investigator. The Violent Crimes Unit investigates “Crimes against Persons”, including homicide, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, death reports, rape, child abuse, child molestation, physical elder abuse and other felony assaults. The two civilian investigators are responsible for investigating adult missing persons and a variety of misdemeanor crimes, including assault and battery, annoying phone calls and violations of court orders.
The main goal of the Violent Crimes Unit is to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Visalia by arresting and then working closely with the Tulare County District Attorneys Office to obtain convictions on the violent felons responsible for these crimes.
