In order to better serve our community Visalia Transit has added a Route connecting South Central Visalia, to Northeast Visalia. Honoring our HEROES!

As of March 31, 2016, Visalia Transit, in collaboration with the Tulare County Association of Governments, is offering discounted fares and passes on Fixed Route and Paratransit services for all military personnel and their families with a valid ID. Before you pay your fare, be sure to flash a valid military ID to receive your discount. 


Rider Rewards Program

If you have purchased any of Visalia Transit's monthly bus passes, get ready to be rewarded!

Acceptable Passes:

  • Reloadable Pass
  • 31-Day Pass
  • Senior/Disabled 31-Day Pass
  • Monthly HOP Pass

 For no extra charge, your monthly bus pass will allow you to save BIG all around town! Simply present your bus pass when it comes time to pay. The monthly reward will be deducted from your total bill. There is no limit to the number of merchants you visit or the number of times you visit them each month. So keep riding and keep saving!

We are here to get you where you need to go!

The City of Visalia's Transit Division operates numerous mass transit services. Travel conveniently from neighborhoods to major shopping centers, local schools, medical offices, and work sites on Visalia Transit fixed-route.  For those who need curb side pick-up and drop-offs, Dial-A-Ride para-transit services can get you there. Visalia Towne Trolley is a fun way to get around Visalia's great Downtown District. Youth can also get from schools to near-by recreation centers via the Loop Bus. And if you are looking to enjoy the majestic Sequoia National Park, the city operates Sequoia Shuttle from Memorial Day Weekend through September.  If you need more information about other public transportation options in Tulare County, call the Greenline transit information call center.

Visalia Transit provides leadership for public transportation services in the City of Visalia and partnering communities."


Initiated by the City of Visalia in 1981, the Visalia Transit (VT) public transit system provides fixed-route and demand-response transit services within the Visalia Urbanized Area.  An estimated population of 126,500 resides within Visalia Transit's 40 square mile service area. Visalia Towne Trolley was introduced in November, 1998 to provide trolley bus service in the downtown Visalia area. 

The City finances Visalia Transit through a combination of fare revenues, Tulare County's Measure R, Transportation Development Act (sales tax), and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5307 funds, among other state, federal, and local grants/revenues.

Service Area

Visalia Transit operates 14 bus routes that serve Visalia, Farmersville, Exeter, Goshen, and Tulare. Visalia Transit connects with Tulare InterModal Express, Tulare County Area Transit, Kings Area Regional Transit, Greyhound, Orange Belt, and Amtrak.

The fixed route service provides convenient transportation to local schools: Divisadero, Valley Oak, Green Acres, La Joya, Golden West, Mt. Whitney, Redwood, Sequoia, El Diamante, College of the Sequoias, San Joaquin Valley College, Fresno Pacific, Visalia Adult School, and Brandman University.
