DAC's 2011 Barrier Awareness Day was held on Saturday, October 8th at the Garden Street Plaza with more than 40 people participating. The event began at 8:45 am and ended with lunch, debriefing and the presentation of two Community Partner Awards.
The Disabled Individual Community Partner Award was presented to Russell "Russ" Dowling for his contributions and encouragement to other disabled persons.
The Public Advocate Community Partner Award was presented to Monty Cox, Transit Manager for the City of Visalia, for his support and continued contributions to the disabled community at the Transit Center.
The event was made possible by donations from the following organizations and businesses - Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Services, City of Visalia, Raisin Dough Baking Company, Starbucks Coffee and BB Advertising.
