Transit Center Expansion Opens to Public on Oct. 29
The 31,371 square foot area, located just south of the existing transit building, features 12 new bus bays; a much needed addition for the many routes and transit services that utilize the Transit Center. Above each bus bay, as well as inside the Transit Center, riders will find new monitors that will display "real-time" bus arrival and departure predictions. In addition, the new expansion will feature solar voltaic panels to power the outdoor lighting, a public plaza, a water feature, storm drainage cleansing at the bus lanes as well as ground water recharging for the pedestrian areas.
"This is an amazing state-of-the-art facility with new customer information, environmental features and more space; something the citizens of Visalia and Tulare County can benefit from and be proud of for many years to come." said Transit Manager, Monty Cox. He adds "A special thank you to those who help make this happen: Canby Architecture Studio, Inc & Basila Construction, Inc., who put in a lot of hard to work make this all happen."
