Home-Generated Medical Sharps Now Accepted at Dump On Us events
State law prohibits disposing of medical sharps waste in the trash or the toilet. Home-generated medical sharps include needles, syringes and lancets. They must be in approved sharps containers which are available for purchase at local pharmacies. A limit of 24, 1.5 liter sharps containers (or equivalent) per person will be accepted. No drugs or prescription medicines will be accepted.
The Dump On Us event is free and available for all Visalia residents to rid property of any garbage, electronic waste, green waste and household hazardous waste items. A commercial shredding service will be on site.
Individuals dropping off sharps only will use the south entrance to Cain Street off Main Street. All others dropping off sharps as well as other items will use the north entrance to Cain Street off Goshen Avenue.
